Technology as a means of National Power and Identity for the Pakistani Youth- a rant.
If theories back then identified the elements of national power as geography, population, and resources, then now having a strong technological base also serves as part of those elements. While studying this is a larger subject altogether, as the disruption caused by tech is no longer just restricted to studying the role of web 2.0 or media, or just on military technology, but on the smallest to the largest activity of our day-to-day life. In such a time, it becomes imperative upon every one to re-read, rethink and redesign our approach to life and the notions of politics, power and much more. The combination of a young population coupled with the usage and evolution of technology must be welcomed in Pakistan;
Today Pakistan has the highest youth population, and the language of the youth is technology with one of the determining factors of this statement being the fact that we are the third largest pool of digital labor. 64 per cent or more people like myself exist within the boundaries of Pakistan, out of which a hefty sum lives on without knowing the light of education while the rest, the privileged ones hope to leave the borders for a better future. This is where technology comes into play, like the messiah to help ease the grunt of our fathers and forefathers in our generation.
Despite being the largest stakeholders of the country, we are lacking in representation in policy and legislative circles. While the economy holds no promises, and the politics worsens by the day, and so the disillusioned youth embraces the new world order, one run by advanced technology and not the age old dreamers who clutch on to the throne.
